Designed for riders by riders

Adventure tyres are the contact patch between your bike and everything from highway tar to loose gravel. This range covers Pirelli and Michelin rubber across road-biased and rally tread patterns, sized for 17, 18 and 21 inch wheels with load and speed ratings stamped on every casing. Match tread to your terrain split and ride.

How to choose an adventure tyre

Your terrain split decides your tread. A 90/10 road rider needs different rubber to a 50/50 trail explorer, so start with where you actually ride before you look at anything else.

Tread type Road / off-road bias Best surface Example pattern
Road-biased adventure 90/10 Tar and hardpack Michelin Anakee 3
Dual-sport trail 50/50 Gravel and dirt roads Pirelli Scorpion Trail III
Rally / knobby 20/80 Sand, mud and rock Pirelli Scorpion Rally

Read the sidewall before you buy. A code like 120/70ZR17 (58W) tells you 120mm section width, 70% aspect ratio, 17 inch rim, a 58 load index and a W speed rating good for 270km/h. The 90/90-21 front fitment is the adventure standard for steering precision on rough ground, while 17 and 18 inch rears carry the drive.

Match the load index to your kerb weight plus rider, pillion and luggage. A 64S Michelin Anakee handles touring loads at up to 180km/h sustained. Run TL tubeless casings on cast wheels and TT tube-type on spoked rims unless rated otherwise. The M+S marking on the Scorpion Rally confirms mud and snow capability for genuine off-road work.

Replace any tyre at 1.6mm tread depth minimum, and inspect for cracking past 5 years from the date code regardless of wear.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a road-biased and rally adventure tyre?

Road-biased patterns like the Michelin Anakee 3 run a near-continuous tread for grip and longer life on tar at a roughly 90/10 split. Rally patterns like the Pirelli Scorpion Rally use deep, spaced knobs for sand, mud and rock at around 20/80, trading tar mileage for off-road bite. Pick based on your real terrain mix.

How do I read the size code on an adventure tyre?

Take 90/90-21 54R as an example. 90 is the section width in mm, the second 90 is the aspect ratio as a percentage of width, 21 is the rim diameter in inches, 54 is the load index and R is the speed rating. TL means tubeless and TT means tube-type, so match the casing to your wheel.

Can I run a tubeless adventure tyre on spoked wheels?

Only if the wheel is sealed for tubeless use. Traditional spoked rims need a tube and a TT rated tyre, while tubeless TL casings suit cast or sealed tubeless-ready spoked wheels. Check your rim spec and the tyre marking before fitting, since running the wrong combination risks air loss.
