Women's motorcycle jackets split into four materials, and the right pick depends on your climate and riding type. Leather gives the highest abrasion resistance, textile balances protection with all-weather versatility, and mesh trades coverage for airflow in summer heat. This collection spans textile, mesh, leather and Kevlar options.

Material Abrasion Airflow Weather
Leather Highest Low Dry/cool
Textile High Medium 4-season
Mesh Medium Highest Summer
Kevlar High Low All-round

Check the armour before you buy. Under EN 17092, jackets are rated AAA (highest abrasion), AA, or A, and most quality textile and leather jackets here sit at AA or better. Impact armour is graded CE Level 1 or the stronger CE Level 2 at shoulders and elbows. A back protector is often sold separately, so confirm whether the jacket ships with one or has a pocket for an aftermarket insert. For summer riding, prioritise CE Level 1 armour with mesh panels over a heavier shell you'll leave at home.

Merlin leads this range, followed by Shark Leathers own-brand options, Difi, Macna and Oxford. Pair a jacket with matching women's pants and women's gloves for full coverage. New riders should read our jacket materials and AAA ratings guide first.

Frequently asked questions

What size women's motorcycle jacket should I buy?

Measure your chest at the fullest point and check each brand's size chart, since Merlin, Macna, Difi and Oxford cut differently. A jacket should be snug enough to hold armour in place over the shoulders and elbows but still allow a base layer underneath. If you ride year-round, size for a thin warm layer in winter.

Are these jackets CE certified for armour?

Most textile and leather jackets in this range carry CE Level 1 armour at the shoulders and elbows as standard, with some offering Level 2 upgrades. Back protectors are often a separate purchase but most jackets include a pocket for an aftermarket insert. Check each product page for the exact armour spec and EN 17092 abrasion rating.

Which jacket material is best for Australian summer riding?

Mesh jackets give the most airflow and are the go-to for hot weather. They trade some coverage for cooling, so look for one with CE Level 1 armour retained at the impact points. For year-round use, a 4-season textile jacket with a removable thermal liner is the more versatile single buy.
