Gear for Darwin riding

Darwin doesn't do winter. It does 30C+ year-round and a humidity reading that punishes any jacket built for Melbourne. So mesh leads. A proper mesh textile with CE Level 2 armour at shoulder, elbow and back gives you airflow on the Stuart Highway run south and structure if the bitumen finds you. We stock mesh and textile jackets from DriRider, Macna, Rjays, Oxford and Richa, plus the summer-jackets cut if you want maximum airflow on the haul to Katherine.

The Wet (Nov to Apr) is the trickier half. Heavy storms roll in within minutes, sealed roads flood, and a cotton-lined jacket you bought for Brisbane will sit wet on you for hours. Order a waterproof shell or a jacket with a removable hydro liner, and pair it with proper waterproof boots from TCX, Falco or Oxford. Wet feet at 80km/h on the run back from Litchfield is its own kind of misery. Kevlar jeans or vented riding pants finish the kit; the Shark Kevlar denim wears like normal jeans off the bike, which matters when 30C means you're still in them at the servo.

For the lid, ventilation is the whole game. AGV, LS2, Bell, Simpson, Airoh, Kabuto, Nitro and RXT helmets all sit in our range with multi-vent shells and Pinlock-ready visors. Throw in a Cardo, SCS or LS2 intercom and you can actually hear your mates on dry-season escarpment rides into Kakadu without yelling through a closed visor. One thing we'll say plainly: don't buy winter gear. You won't wear it. Skip thermal liners, skip insulated jackets, skip heated grips. Spend that money on a second mesh jacket and a real wet-weather shell instead.

How long does shipping to Darwin take?

Five to seven business days from dispatch. We dispatch same-day on orders before 2pm AEST. The 3,400km freight leg is the constraint, once it's on the road, it's out of our hands, but we'll send tracking and chase the courier if anything stalls.

What gear should I prioritise for the Wet?

A jacket with a removable waterproof liner (or a packable rain shell), waterproof boots, and gloves you don't mind getting soaked. Wet-season storms hit fast and hard. A mesh jacket alone won't cut it from November onward.

Do you stock heat-rated mesh gear?

Yes, it's our biggest category for Top End orders. Mesh jackets from DriRider, Macna, Rjays and Richa, perforated leather and textile gloves from Five and Oxford, and vented pants. Built for 30C-plus days.

Is there a Darwin showroom?

No. The shop is on the Gold Coast at 6/142 Siganto Drive, Helensvale. But we ship the same range you'd see hanging on the wall, and the staff on the phone (07 5573 5118) are the same staff who do walk-in fittings. Sizing advice is a phone call away.

Can I return if the fit is wrong?

Yep. Unworn gear with tags can be exchanged or refunded. We cover the swap on a sizing exchange so you're not paying freight twice from the Top End.
