Motorcycle Gear Hobart & Tasmania

Motorcycle Gear Hobart | Shipped from Shark Leathers Gold Coast

Tasmania doesn't really do warm. Your gear shouldn't either. We ship the full Shark Leathers range across Bass Strait to Hobart riders who already know that "summer" here is a long autumn with better light. Lids, jackets, pants, boots, gloves, intercoms, and our own Shark Leathers waterproof shells, all dispatched same-day from our Helensvale shop on the Gold Coast. We carry AGV, LS2, Bell and Airoh helmets, DriRider and Macna jackets built for persistent damp, TCX and Falco boots, and Cardo intercoms. Free shipping Australia-wide on orders over $200, sea-freighted to Tassie in 4-6 business days. Order before 2pm AEST and your kit leaves the same afternoon.

Gear for Hobart and Tasmanian riding

Your weather is the gear brief. Cold winters under 10C, snow on Mt Wellington (kunanyi) most years, mild summers that rarely crack 25, and damp that lives in your jacket lining if you let it. Cold-weather gear isn't a winter purchase here. It's the year-round default. Start with a properly waterproof touring jacket. Membrane-lined textiles from DriRider, Rjays, Macna, Richa or RST handle the run up to kunanyi or a Huon Valley loop without soaking through at the cuffs. Skip mesh entirely unless you're a fair-weather Sunday rider, then keep a waterproof shell in the topbox anyway.

Lids matter as much as the jacket. Pinlock-ready visors stop the inside fogging when you crest the Tasman Bridge into a southerly off the Derwent. Modular helmets from LS2 and Airoh suit the East Coast ride to St Helens because you can flip up at the servo without dragging the whole lid off. Full-face AGVs and Bells cover the rest. Our helmet range is AS/NZS 1698 approved across the board, every model.

Below the waist, layer up. Waterproof textile pants over thermals beat Kevlar jeans on a wet West Coast run to Strahan. For armoured single-layer Kevlar, our Shark Leathers Kevlar jeans work for shorter commuter hops in town. Pair with waterproof touring boots from TCX, Falco or Oxford. Cold feet end rides faster than cold hands.

And speaking of hands, this is where most Tassie riders cheap out and regret it. Winter gloves with a proper waterproof membrane and thermal lining, Five, Oxford, Macna or Richa, are the difference between feeling your levers and not feeling your levers on a 6C morning across Bruny Island. Add a Cardo or SCS intercom for group rides on the East Coast and you've solved the wind-buffeting hearing problem too.

Shipping to Hobart

Tasmania is roughly 2500km from our Helensvale shop, which means freight crosses Bass Strait by sea before it lands in your driveway. Allow 4-6 business days for delivery to Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Burnie or anywhere on the island. Same-day dispatch on every order placed before 2pm AEST. Free shipping kicks in at $200, which most Tassie kits clear easily once you've added a lid and jacket. If something doesn't fit, we run easy returns through Australia Post, no return-freight fees on faulty gear, and we'll talk you through sizing on the phone before you send anything back. We've shipped enough kit south to know the postcodes by heart.

FAQs

How long does shipping to Hobart take?

4-6 business days from Helensvale to anywhere in Tasmania. Sea freight across Bass Strait adds the extra days you don't see on the mainland. Same-day dispatch if you order before 2pm AEST.

Can I return gear if the fit is wrong?

Yes. 30-day returns on unworn gear with tags attached. Send it back via Australia Post and we'll swap the size or refund. Phone us first if you're unsure on sizing, faster than guessing.

What jacket actually handles the Tassie damp?

A proper laminated waterproof textile, not a "water-resistant" softshell. DriRider Apex, Macna and Richa touring jackets all run waterproof membranes that cope with persistent rain on a Huon Valley run. Pair with a thermal liner for winter mornings under 10C.

Do you stock heated gloves or heated liners?

We stock heavy thermal winter gloves from Five, Oxford and Macna with waterproof membranes that keep most Tassie riders happy down to a few degrees. For Mt Wellington in July, layer with thermal liners under the gloves and a heated grip kit on the bike.

Is there a Hobart showroom?

No. Our shop is in Helensvale on the Gold Coast. But we ship to Tassie weekly and we'll talk you through fit, weather and gear choice on the phone before you buy. +61 7 5573 5118 or email, whichever suits.

Order before 2pm AEST. Your gear leaves Helensvale today and clears Bass Strait by week's end. Ride the East Coast in something that actually keeps the wet out.
