Motorcycle Jackets Perth
Motorcycle Jackets Perth | Shipped from Shark Leathers
Most jackets cook a Perth rider in February. The right ones don't. We pack and dispatch motorcycle jackets from Helensvale, Queensland, and they land at your door in Perth in three to five business days. Mesh for the 40C summer haul out to Northam, a waterproof shell for the wet winter mornings near Mundaring, leather for a weekend canyon run down to Margaret River. We stock DriRider, Rjays, Merlin, Five, Oxford, Macna, Difi, RST, Richa and our own Shark Leathers label. Same-day dispatch on orders before 2pm AEST. Free shipping Australia-wide over $200.
How to pick a jacket for Perth riding
Perth has a Mediterranean climate, which is a polite way of saying summer cooks you and winter quietly soaks you. Most riders here end up running two jackets, sometimes three. Here is how the categories actually break down on local roads.
Mesh jackets (your summer default)
Mesh jackets are not optional gear in Perth, they are the gear. From November through March the Bickley loop reads 38C in the shade and the Brookton Highway hits 40-plus before lunch. A solid mesh shell with CE Level 2 shoulder and elbow armour and a removable back protector lets the Fremantle Doctor actually do its job. We stock Macna, DriRider and Rjays mesh that breathes properly without losing armour coverage. Fit it snug, the armour needs to sit where the bone is.
Waterproof and textile jackets (for the wet months)
June and July hand Perth its rain quota in concentrated bursts. A waterproof textile jacket with a sealed membrane (think Reissa, Hydratex, or a quality laminate) keeps you dry on the run through Toodyay when the cloud sits low and the road shines. Look for taped seams, a removable thermal liner, and a long back so spray off the rear tyre stays off your kidneys. Macna, Rjays and DriRider all do this category well.
Leather jackets (weekend specialist)
Leather is a Sunday tool in Perth, not a daily one. A 1.2 to 1.4mm cowhide jacket with perforated panels is the right call for a Margaret River run or the long sweep to Albany. Try wearing solid leather on a 40C commute and you'll find out fast why mesh exists. We stock Merlin, Five, RST, Richa and our own Shark Leathers cowhide. Shark customs are FIM-approved, the same construction we put on national-championship grids.
Jacket standards that actually matter
Two specs do most of the work, and most marketing copy hides them. Read them once and you'll never buy a soft jacket again.
EN 17092 (the abrasion standard). European jacket law splits gear into AAA, AA, and A. Class AAA is racing-grade, designed for high-speed slides on track or full sport touring. Class AA covers most road riders, the sweet spot for Perth commuting and weekend touring. Class A is light urban use, fine for around the suburbs but thin for highway speeds. Anything below A (sometimes labelled "B" or "C") is a base layer, not impact gear. Check the tag.
CE armour Level 1 vs Level 2. The numbers are simple. CE Level 1 armour transmits up to 18kN of impact force to the body. CE Level 2 transmits a maximum of 9kN, half the load. That gap is the difference between a bruise and a fracture in a 70km/h slide. Level 2 shoulders, elbows and a Level 2 back protector should be the floor. Most factory jackets ship with Level 1 in the limbs and a foam pad for a back, swap the back for a real CE Level 2 insert. It's a $40-$80 upgrade that genuinely saves bones.
Waterproofing matters less than people think for sealed laminates and membranes (most quality textiles handle Perth rain fine). Ventilation matters more, zip vents on the chest and back are non-negotiable for summer.
Shipping jackets to Perth
Perth is 4,300km from our Helensvale warehouse, the longest haul in our network. We dispatch the same day on every jacket order placed before 2pm AEST and use freight that actually crosses the Nullarbor without disappearing. Delivery to Perth metro lands in three to five business days. Outer suburbs and regional WA (Fremantle, Joondalup, Mandurah, Bunbury, Geraldton) usually within five. Frequently asked questions
What jacket suits Perth summer riding?
Mesh, every time. A CE Level 2 mesh jacket with chest and back vents handles the 40C runs out to Northam, the Bickley loop and the Albany highway. Add a thin waterproof over-shell for the rare summer storm and you're covered.
How long does shipping a jacket to Perth take?
Three to five business days for Perth metro. Same-day dispatch from our Helensvale warehouse on orders placed before 2pm AEST. Regional WA can take an extra day or two.
Can I return a jacket if the fit is wrong?
Yes. Try it on at home over the gear you'd normally ride in, check armour position on shoulders and elbows, and if it doesn't sit right post it back. Tags on, not ridden in. Returns instructions come with the order.
Do you stock DriRider and Macna?
Both. We carry the full DriRider and Macna jacket range, plus Rjays, Merlin, Five, Oxford, Difi, RST, Richa and our own Shark Leathers cowhide and textile. Phone us on 07 5573 5118 if you want a sizing recommendation, the staff ride this stuff daily.
How do I size a motorcycle jacket?
Measure your chest at the widest point with a t-shirt on, then check the brand's chart (sizing varies brand to brand). The jacket should sit snug enough that armour stays on the bone when you reach for the bars, but not so tight you can't fit a thermal layer underneath for winter.
Order before 2pm AEST. Your jacket leaves Helensvale today and lands in Perth by the end of the working week. Built and chosen by riders, ridden on the same roads we sell.
