EN 17092 (the abrasion standard). European jacket law splits gear into AAA, AA, and A. Class AAA is racing-grade, designed for high-speed slides on track or full sport touring. Class AA covers most road riders, the sweet spot for Perth commuting and weekend touring. Class A is light urban use, fine for around the suburbs but thin for highway speeds. Anything below A (sometimes labelled "B" or "C") is a base layer, not impact gear. Check the tag.

Measure your chest at the widest point with a t-shirt on, then check the brand's chart (sizing varies brand to brand). The jacket should sit snug enough that armour stays on the bone when you reach for the bars, but not so tight you can't fit a thermal layer underneath for winter.
