Designed for riders by riders

Armour bundles are the fastest way to add certified impact protection to a jacket that shipped with foam inserts. These shoulder and elbow sets from Armanox and Shark Leathers come matched as pairs, so you fit both impact zones in one go and meet the CE rating your riding demands.

CE armour is rated under EN 1621-1, the European standard that governs limb impact protection for motorcyclists. The rating tells you how much force the pad transmits to your body during a controlled strike, so it is the number that matters most when you choose a bundle.

Spec CE Level 1 CE Level 2
Standard EN 1621-1 EN 1621-1
Max force transmitted (avg) 35 kN 20 kN
Single peak limit 50 kN 35 kN
Impact energy tested 50 J 50 J
Coverage zones Shoulders, elbows Shoulders, elbows
Best for Commuting, lower speeds Sport, touring, track days

Level 2 is the stronger spec. It caps average transmitted force at 20 kN against 35 kN for Level 1, roughly 43% less force reaching the joint on a hard hit. Choose Level 2 for higher speeds and Level 1 when you want lower bulk for stop-start city riding.

Fitment decides whether the bundle works. Most riding jackets use standard CE pockets sized around 130 mm wide at the shoulder and elbow, and the Armanox and Shark Leathers sets are cut to slot straight into these. A pair covers both elbows and both shoulders, which is 4 zones total. Pair an armour upgrade with a back protector and check the abrasion rating of the jacket shell itself, since EN 17092 AAA, AA and A garments handle abrasion while EN 1621-1 armour handles impact. See Motorcycle Jacket Materials & AAA Ratings for shell guidance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CE Level 1 and Level 2 armour in these bundles?

Both are tested to EN 1621-1 at 50 joules of impact energy. Level 1 caps average transmitted force at 35 kN, while Level 2 caps it at 20 kN, meaning roughly 43% less force reaches the joint. Level 2 suits faster sport and touring riding, Level 1 suits lower-speed commuting with less bulk.

Will these shoulder and elbow armour bundles fit my jacket?

Most motorcycle jackets use standard CE armour pockets sized around 130 mm at the shoulder and elbow, and the Armanox and Shark Leathers sets are cut to fit these pockets. Check that your jacket has dedicated CE pockets rather than fixed foam, then match the zone and level to your jacket.

Does an armour bundle cover both shoulders and both elbows?

Yes. Each shoulder and elbow bundle includes a matched pair, covering all 4 impact zones across both arms. This replaces the basic foam inserts many jackets ship with so both joints meet the same EN 1621-1 CE rating.
